Salt lakes of the Kinburn Spit

Kinburn Spit is one of the seven large sand massifs formed on the site of the ancient Dnieper Delta. An invaluable natural wealth of this part of the Black Sea coast is a large number of lakes. Some of them are located above sea level and feed mainly on precipitation. These lakes are fresh, shallow, also known as “sweet sagas”. In the diet of other reservoirs, seawater, which seeps through the sand layers, is important. The water in these lakes is salty. In the heat it evaporates, forming a solid layer of salt at the bottom. From time immemorial, Chumaks on oxen along the Milky Way came here for salt. Sometimes there are layers of healing mud. Many people come here to treat joint diseases in the lakes of therapeutic mud.
